Understanding Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is short for Wireless Fidelity, which has the sense of a set of standards used for Wireless Local Networks (Wireless Local Area Networks - WLANs) based on IEEE 802.11 specification. The latest standards of specifications 802.11a or b, such as 802.11 g, is currently in preparation, the latest specification will offer many improvements ranging from more extensive coverage to the transfer speed.
Wi-Fi more dienal with a Wireless LAN which is telokomunikasi wireless network between computers via the LAN protocol. Limited scope suatua concentrated in certain areas, it is often called the Hot Spot. This allows anyone with a computer with a wireless card (wireless card) or personal digital assistant (PDA) to connect to the Internet. Services provided include e-mail, Internet, intranet, messaging, music / video streaming and other IP aplikation base. Wi-Fi has a maximum data access speeds of 54 Mbps
Technology-based Wi-Fi internet created and developed a group of U.S. engineers who worked at the Institute of Electrical and Electronis Engineers (IEEE) technical standards-based numbered devices 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.16. Wi-Fi devices are not only able to work on WLAN networks, but also on network Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN). 802.16 technical standard devices intended for WMAN device or also called Wi-Max, who works in the vicinity of 5 GHz frequency band.
Wi-Fi Technology memuliki limited coverage, a maximum of about 100 meters. Wi-Fi is installed on a single spectrum, 2.4 GHz, which generally does not require a license. There are several standards and commonly used in Wi-Fi.
                1. 802.11a
Used from late 2001 by using the 5 GHz frequency, the maximum bandwidth that can dicapi is 54Mbps.
                2. 802.11b
Used from late 1999 by using a frequency of 2.4 GHz (unlicensed frequency), maximum achievable bandwidth is 11 Mbps.
                3. 802.11g
Used in pertaengahan in 2003 by using a frequency of 2.4 MHz (licensed frequency), the maximum bandwidth of 54 Mbps can be achieved.

 Wi-Fi Service Forms

Wi-Fi has the main service is to access data such as internet, intranet, e-mail. Namaun because its scope is limited, Wi-Fi should be concentrated on a particular area, called hot spots.
